Pose, snap, share: An Instagram guide to #NewYork
Recording and sharing memories is almost as important as making them these days, and Instagram is the perfect platform for documenting your adventures and showcasing them to the world. To help you make the most out of your trips offline and online, we’ve created a series of Instagram guides to some of our favorite – and Instagram’s most popular – destinations. First up: the incredibly photogenic New York City.
It’s easy to see why New York is the most Instagrammed city in the world. With a stunning skyline, loads of iconic landmarks, photogenic street signs, towering skyscrapers (and let’s not forget the eye-catching yellow cabs!), practically every square inch of the city is begging to be captured and filtered to perfection.
The best photo ops in New York
#CentralPark (1,195,898 Instagram shots and counting) – Great for action shots of your recently purchased Nike running shoes, selfies with the too-friendly-for-comfort park squirrels and awkward engagement photos.
#TimesSquare (983,614 Instagram shots and counting) – This little pocket of New York is arguably the most exciting and vibrant square in the world. Bright billboards, busy crossroads, taxi cabs galore and the awesome M&M‘s World will ensure no Instagram feed goes hungry.
#EmpireStateBuilding (511,303 Instagram shots and counting) – Capturing just one picture of this beautiful icon of the New York skyline would be a sin. The tradition of changing the color of the lights to recognize various occasions will ensure that no two pictures of the Empire State Building will ever be the same. Your go-to filter to make those bright lights pop? X-Pro II.
And don’t forget about #GrandCentral or #BrooklynBridge!

Always tag your Big Apple shots with #nyc #newyork #ny or #manhattan + your location if you’re at a landmark like #StatueofLiberty #TopoftheRoc or #TimesSquare.
Instagram accounts full of New York goodness
@HumansofNY, @cxcart and @newyorkcity are all full of the fabulous sights, stories and people that make this city so special.
And the all-important wifi spots, of course
With over 200 Starbucks coffee shops on the island of Manhattan alone, you’ll never go wifi-less. These days you don’t even have to go into the shop to get connected. Simply loiter outside while you post your best pics, then spend your coffee money at the various street vendors. The coffee’s way better, and won’t burn a hole in your wallet!
And remember… “If it’s not on Instagram, it never happened”!
